Hello, here’s your Aviation Briefing for Wednesday 27 April 2022.

Across the northern hemisphere, it’s going to be a summer of disruption for airlines – as carriers begin to grapple with the industry’s staff shortage amid a surge in passenger demand. The entire aviation ecosystem is facing a shared challenge after tens of thousands of skilled aviation sector staff were made redundant during the COVID-19 pandemic.

London Heathrow, the UK’s hub airport, this month warned that “resources are stretched” and said the airport and its partner businesses need to hire an extra 12,000 employees to cope with the summer demand.
