Your Aviation Briefing
Hello, here’s your Aviation Briefing for Wednesday 13 April 2022.
We begin in Ethiopia, where after a 3-year ban, the nation’s civil aviation authority has approved the return of the Boeing 737 MAX, formally allowing the troubled Boeing short-range airliner to return to Ethiopia’s skies in a commercial capacity for the first time since the aircraft type was involved in Ethiopia’s worst-ever air disaster (which went on to trigger a worldwide grounding of the new Boeing jet).
Why was the aircraft type grounded? 737 MAX jets were grounded worldwide in March 2019 when Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302, a new 737 MAX, crashed near Addis Ababa shortly after take-off.
